IROKO – Out there!

Avishai is now enjoying a well-deserved break to recharge his batteries in advance of a busy summer of ‘Live’ concerts with his Banda ‘Iroko’, the New Amity Duet with Makoto Ozone, and trio with Guy Moskovich and Roni Kaspi.

Banda ‘Iroko’ is a collaboration between Israeli bassist Avishai Cohen and Nuyorican conguero-vocalist Abraham Rodriguez Jr. This is Jerusalem meets Loisaida (Lower East Side). Our point of view is that there is nothing better than when someone from one culture fully understands someone from another culture. That’s what happens in both directions with these two artists. They play like brothers, the Caribbean hero twins, separated at birth and reunited in jazz.

Jazz bassist/composer Avishai Cohen joins forces with New York Latin icon Abraham Rodriguez Jr. for their new record, ‘Iroko’. Recording as a duo, this decades-in-the-making project finds the pair exploring a spectrum of Afro-Caribbean styles informed by their respective combined backgrounds in jazz fusion, Afro-Latin jazz, traditional folk music and more.

Avishai is excited to head out for the first extended string of concerts and festivals with his Banda ‘Iroko’ this summer throughout Europe. The Banda will play dates this July in France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and Belgium. Catch the Banda as they roll through a town near you!

Before starting the summer festivals with his Banda ‘Iroko’, Avishai will be on tour with his trio in Europe and heading out across the pond for some special festival dates in Canada.

We are pleased to share the exciting news that Avishai and Makoto Ozone will come together again for a 4 date run of shows at the famed Blue Note in New York. The duo will occupy this hallowed room from August 31st – September 3rd for two shows a night. Book your tickets early!!

Originally released in 2006, Razdaz Recordz is proud to make Avishai classic album Continuo available soon on a re-mastered vinyl. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the October release!

In advance of the upcoming vinyl release. The new Continuo Songbook now available at the music store, which includes all the album music charts, and  the new track ‘Numi Numi’.
